The written word has always fascinated me – something no doubt that I genetically inherited from my father, Brian (see the Mr. Jazz page). I published my first novel, Puppet on a String, in 2003 after a number of years refining it.
Then, in 2009, having spent most of my career in managing projects for computers and websites, I took the decision to focus on my writing.
My first love, though, has always been music. A trained singer with the London Philharmonic Choir, I followed my dad in his large footsteps into the world of discography; where his métier was traditional jazz, mine was more rock music. My tastes are eclectic and this perhaps explains why I followed the Moody Blues Encyclopaedia with a recording catalogue of Cliff Richard and then the Shadows. My favourite band, though, remains the Moody Blues and this is why I’m proud to produce my third recording catalogue, this time focusing on them.
While I have enjoyed the research and writing process for the discographies, I also have a passion for writing fiction (almost always with a humorous aspect to it) and this has resulted in a collection of short stories (A Bucketful of Rust) and a children’s story, Gemma and the Snowcat, which I wrote originally for my god-daughter, but also allowed me to write about the animal that I love - cats!
